We will visit Kavala - Greece's prettiest mainland port with a most elegant harbor. Paul landed here with his disciples, Timothy and Silas. Luke, the Evangelist, also came here from Troas. This ancient city of Neapolis was later renamed Christoupolis because it was the first European city to accept Christianity. Imagine walking on the same sod as these men of the Bible! We will see the Roman Aqueduct and the ruins of the Acropolis in this beautifully located city, known since the 5th century as Kavala. Continue on to Philippi where Paul preached his first evangelical sermon and baptized the first Christians on European soil. We will view the baptismal site where Lydia surrendered her life to Christ and visit a crypt dating from the Roman period that is thought to have served as a prison for Paul. See the famous Acropolis, the Market Place, Basilica, and the Theatre. We continue to Thessaloniki for dinner and overnight.
-
Today we visit Berea (now known as Veria), a historic city in northern Greece, renowned for its biblical significance as a site visited by the Apostle Paul. Nestled at the foot of Mount Vermion, it boasts a blend of ancient and Byzantine heritage, with notable landmarks like the Apostle Paul’s Tribune, old churches. We stop at the Bema surrounded by mosaics of Paul and the plaque of scripture regarding the "more noble" church. Then we drive to Kalambaka. Dinner and overnight in Kalambaka
-
Today we visit Meteora. Here, there are the world famous Byzantine monasteries that are perched precariously on summits of gray rock pinnacles of varied and beautiful shapes. Their history goes back to the 14th century when the monks sought refuge in the cliffside caves then fled higher to build the original wooden shelters, later transformed into monasteries. We see the hanging monasteries and we visit one of them. Lodging this evening will be in Athens.
-
We transfer to the port of Lavrion to begin our 4 Day Greece and Turkey cruise with a visit to the mountainous island of Mykonos. Free time to explore the island before returning to the ship for evening entertainment.
-
Visit the Turkish port of Kusadasi, and enjoy an included excursion to Ancient Ephesus, whose inhabitants were the recipients of Apostle Paul's famous epistle (Acts 18:19-26; Ephesians) and which was once the capital of the Roman province of Asia, and to the House of Mary, where the Virgin Mary is said to have spent her last days. Continue your cruise to Patmos, with free time to discover the "Jerusalem of the Aegean". We visit the Monastery of St. John and to the Cave of the Apocalypse, where John the Evangelist wrote the Book of the Revelation during his exile (Rev. 1:9-11).
-
Today we spend the whole day in the unique island of Rhodes. Today we can have free day in the old town or take the shore excursion to see the location where Paul stopped on his way back to Palestine (Acts 21: 1) for his trial and imprisonment (not included - excursion optional). Through the tour we wil see the St. Paul Beach where he had stopped in our way to the Acropolis of Lindos. Return to the old city/castle of Rhodes surrounded by the walls and enjoy this historical place. Back to the ship for dinner and evening entertainment.
-
This morning we arrive in Heraklion. The capital of Crete is a former Venetian harbor with representative architecture and art. Free time to explore the city on your own which can include sites such as the church of St Titus, a disciple of the Apostle Paul and the first Bishop of Crete. And we wil visit the Venetian Loggia, Basilica of St Mark, medieval monastery of St Catherine and the Cathedral of St Minas. Later in the afternoon our cruise will reach Santorini one of the most unique places of the world to admire its geography, a result of an earthquake that took place many centuries ago. We will take the shore excursion to Oia Village and Fira (the capital) which offers winding streets filled with shops, cafes, and stunning viewpoints. Back to the ship for dinner and evening entertainment.
-
After your disembarkation, you tour the city of Corinth, where the apostle Paul met fellow tentmakers Aquila and Priscilla and received a vision from the Lord saying, "I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city" (Acts 18: 10). As Paul spoke, Crispus (chief ruler of the synagogue) and many others believed and were baptized (Acts 18:8), establishing the church at Corinth to whom Paul later wrote his two epistles. Discover the Archaeological Museum, Market Place and Temples. As you walk among the ruins, stand on the Bema, where the apostle Paul stood before Gallio to face charges brought against him by the Jews. Return to Athens. Dinner and overnight are in Athens.
-
Today you enjoy the rich architectural splendor of the ancient city of Athens as your guide introduces you to the world renowned Acropolis, the Propylaea, the Parthenon and the Erectheum. Stand on Mars Hill as the apostle Paul did when he proclaimed, "I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you" (Acts 17:23). As you view the Agora (ancient market place and center of Athenian public life), recall that this was where the Apostle Paul preached "Jesus and the resurrection" (Acts 17:18) to the skeptical Athenians. Also see the House of Parliament, the Presidential Palace and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Dinner and overnight are in Athens.
